Saturday Headliner Spotlight: Ghost Ghoston

Straight from the heart of the Mississippi Delta, Xavier “GHOST” Villa Ghoston brings a voice that carries the weight of history and the spark of something timeless. Singing since the age of five in the Holiness church, Ghost’s sound fuses quartet tradition, Delta Blues, and modern R&B into a soul-stirring experience that feels both deeply rooted and refreshingly new.

Nicknamed “GHOST” not just for his last name but for his reputation as an “old soul,” he channels the greats with ease while carving out a style uniquely his own. His musical journey began with the group FAITH, backing Grammy Award-winning Michael McDonald and other legendary artists—a path that set the stage for his own rise as a powerhouse vocalist and performer.

Music has always been family for Ghost. From his grandmother, Ollie Jean, who introduced him to gospel icons like The Soul Stirrers and The Caravans, to his father, Anthony “GOAT” Ghoston, who filled the house with the sounds of Johnnie Taylor, Tyrone Davis, B.B. King, and Bobby Blue Bland, Ghost grew up immersed in the very roots of Southern Soul and Blues.

It’s no wonder that when Ghost steps on stage, every note carries that lineage—the Sunday church spirit, the Saturday night groove, and the Mississippi Delta storytelling that gave birth to the Blues itself.
