Gregg A. Smith: A Lifetime Dedicated to the Blues
When it comes to keeping the blues alive, few artists have done it with the passion, longevity, and soul of Gregg A. Smith. Born in Honey Grove, Texas, Gregg’s journey started in his mother’s café, where he first sang and danced at just three years old. From those early days, his music has carried him across the country and around the world, sharing the stage with legends like Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Etta James, Johnny Taylor, and B.B. King.
Gregg’s career spans more than six decades, with 20 albums to his name and countless accolades, including the Jus’ Blues Legendary Blues and Soul Award, the Bobby “Blue” Bland Lifetime Achievement Award, and recognition on the Grammy ballot for his 2020 release The Real Deal. His hit songs like Money Talks, It’s My Time, and Don’t Cry No More showcase not just his powerhouse voice, but also his unique blend of blues, soul, and R&B.
Today, Gregg continues to tour, record, and even host his own long-running radio show, The Gregg Smith Radio Blues Review, on KNON 89.3 FM in Dallas. His style is as timeless as it is fresh—mixing deep Southern soul with the raw authenticity of Texas blues.
Bluesfest 2025 is proud to welcome this award-winning artist whose music tells the history of the blues while keeping it alive for new generations. Don’t miss the chance to experience Gregg A. Smith—a true soul man and Texas blues treasure—live on stage.
