Fronted by the raw, soul-drenched vocals of Noni Rae (aka Dakota Michelle), this powerhouse blues collective brings together some of Texas’s finest. Noni’s voice—once described as “Janis meets Aretha”—carries a story of revival, rediscovery, and pure emotional fire. After years away from the mic, she’s back with a vengeance, pouring it all out on stage.
Backing her are the Cheddar Boyz:
Tin Man Travis – a one-man show with a voice that cuts deep and heals fast. From red dirt and old country to gospel and blues, Tin’s talent stretches so wide there isn’t enough space to list it all. Known across Texas for his genre-bending guitar work and no-nonsense storytelling, he’s the kind of artist who delivers—every time.
Robert Green – bassist and multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, mentor to many, and master of groove across blues, rock, R&B, and beyond. With over 13 instruments under his belt, Rob’s influence runs deep and wide.
Buddy Henderson – a prodigy turned legend, who started touring at 13 with Bugs Henderson and now anchors the band with unmatched rhythm and musical direction. Solid, versatile, and always in the pocket.
Lil Jay – a guitar-slinging, bad-to-the-bone vocalist and player whose fire and finesse helped spark the Cheddar Boyz Blues Project into existence. Whether or not he hits the Denton stage this time, his impact is felt in every note. You’ll be seeing more of him—count on it.
Uriah Stake – special guest guitarist whose tone and touch bring a fresh edge to the lineup. Uriah’s presence adds depth and soul to an already electrifying crew.
Together, this group earned First Runner-Up in the North Texas Blues Challenge prelims—proof that their sound hits hard and their story resonates. Noni Rae & the Cheddar Boyz Blues Project isn’t just a band. It’s a revival, a reckoning, and a celebration of soul, grit, and second chances.
Head out to the festival to hear the Boyz!
